Editorial Standards
We take mathematical accuracy seriously. A single calculation error can cost a contractor real money, give a student the wrong homework answer, or send an engineer back to redo a spec. So every article on this site goes through the process below before it goes live.
Our 5-Step Editorial Process
Topic Research
Before writing, we research what readers actually need. We analyze search queries, "People Also Ask" data, Reddit and Quora discussions, and existing competitor content. The goal is to identify what's missing or poorly explained elsewhere — and fill that gap.
Formula Verification
Every formula used in our articles is cross-referenced against at least two authoritative sources, including:
- Wolfram MathWorld
- NIST for unit conversions
- Math handbooks & Khan Academy
Calculation Check
Every worked example is calculated twice — once by the writer, once independently by the reviewer. Numbers must match to at least 3 significant figures. When we round, we say so explicitly.
Specification Check
When we reference physical objects, we use manufacturer-published dimensions, industry-standard specifications (ASTM for pipes, DOT for tanks), and government data (USGS). We cite the source whenever the specification isn't widely known.
Plain Language Review
Final read-through to remove jargon, fix awkward phrasing, and ensure the explanation works for the intended reader — usually a non-mathematician trying to solve a specific problem.
Use of AI in Our Content
We use AI tools to assist with research, drafting, and structuring. All AI-assisted content is reviewed and fact-checked by a human editor before publishing. We disclose this openly because:
- Hiding AI use while pretending it's purely human-written violates reader trust.
- Google's policy permits AI content that is helpful, accurate, and reviewed.
- What matters isn't whether AI touched the draft — it's whether the math is right and the explanation is clear.
Our Accuracy Promise
If you find an error in any article on this site:
- Email us at cylindervolumecalculator@gmail.com
- We'll verify within 48 hours.
- If you're correct, we'll fix the error and credit you in the article (with your permission).
- We'll add a "Correction Notice" to the article showing what changed and when.
How We Update Articles
Math doesn't change, but our explanations sometimes do. Articles are reviewed and updated when:
- A reader reports an error or unclear section.
- We find a better way to explain a concept.
- New standards are published (e.g., updated pipe specifications).
- Internal calculator improvements affect linked content.
Every article shows two dates: Published and Last Reviewed.
What We Don't Do
We don't publish content we haven't verified
We don't accept paid placements disguised as editorial
We don't fabricate author credentials or experience
We don't quote sources we haven't read
We don't use clickbait headlines that misrepresent content
Conflicts of Interest
If an article recommends a specific product or tool, we disclose any affiliate relationship at the top of the article. Affiliate income does not influence which products we recommend; we recommend based on accuracy, utility, and reader value.
